LeBron James has not taken part in preseason and was out for the losses against the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix this month as a result of the sciatic problem.
The veteran is expected to be sidelined for every one of the five of the Lakers' games in October, which includes the opening match against Golden State Warriors.
James, the league's top scorer, has never previously missed the opening of the campaign in his 22-season tenure.
His count of 1,562 games played is only 50 away than overtaking former Boston star Parish's league record.
The title winner appeared in seventy of the LA Lakers' 82 games last season and played on 71 matches in the prior season.
Last season, James averaged 24.4 points, 8.2 assists and nearly 8 rebounds per game and came in sixth in the MVP vote.
The Lakers qualified for the playoffs in last season but fell four games to one against the Minnesota in the opening round.
